Been using a Hans Dampf Trail star on the front of my bike and reasonably happy with the grip level (Although more would always be nice) and the rolling speed (Its a little draggy but could be worse). The only issue is I seem to keep trashing the side knobs to the point they start to peal away and come off. Ive trashed a second one in not many months so looking to try something else.
Has anyone tried both the Hans Dampf Trail star and the Minion? If so, which compound/width/construction Minion was it and how do the compare rolling resistance wise? I know its not going to be an exact science, much of it will be just the way they feel and opinions are going to conflict but it may help me decide if I go for a Minion or try something else.
Cheers Guys.

Ive ran both - dont think you can beat the Hans Dampf (and i usually hate Schwalbe). But the side knobs do suffer a bit. The minion will hold up better, i.e. more resilient and its grip levels are good, but its kind of got a squarer profile so you gotta be a it more aggressive with it to get it leaning over.....I have both and would never swap the Hans Dampf for a minion.
I've also torn side knobs off my trail star Dampf. Its kust too soft. Will be getting a pace star to replace it. I have front and back pace star dampfs on my other bike and no issue still oodles of grip.
Cheers Guys.
Willber, Don't think being aggressive with a minion would be too much of an issue. How did the rolling resistance compare between the two? Which compound did you have? How was the grip comparison?
Buzz, Its an option, But not too keen on trying a Pace star on the front. Previous Pace start tyres Ive tried have been a bit dodgy on wet rock and wet roots where as the same tyre in Trail star felt better. Ive used them on the rear a lot with no problem though.
Also how does a High roller compare? That's another option.
Thanks.
