Any reviews of this pedals with the XL pin kit fitted?? How do they compare to other similar priced pedals on the market?
Anyone??
All I know is that Slim Jims are just rebranded stuff. You can get the same pedals (sometimes with different details, so pay attention) from other brands cheaper. I think BBB do some variants at different prices and there are some others too.
I have been using a pair for the last few years. They have the sealed bearings. They haven't missed a beat. My new bike will also have a set.
Run for about a year. Fairly slim. std pins are OK for grip. Bearings knocking within 6 months.
I love mine. Just moved them over from my kula to the new superlight. Great pedals. Bigger surface area than most similar pedals. Well sealed. Loads of grip from the replaceable pins. And the look good too. I'm a flattie heathen though.
they are reasonably cheap (even cheaper if you look elsewhere like EBC own brand) and last a decent amount of time, axles are strong and the bearings and pedal body durable but they are pretty badly designed TBH
Take a close look - instead of a raised edge to allow the concave shape to work properly they have machined steps on the outer edge, this along with the recess around the grup screw threads makes them a terrible pedal in the wet but acceptable if you change the two outer edge grub screws for longer ones.
still use a pair on one of my BMXs
I know col but some of us have a thing called a 'budget'!!!
How is the old arm??
don't get my vote sorry, developed loads of play within a couple months even after constant servicing etc.
Now in love with my DMR mag.V12's, if you are on a budget check out THESE V12 copies (not in yellow clearly!) they also come as standard with pretty long pins.
Shame beacuse the 'terror' pin kits for the gussets were pretty dam good.
cheers
walla24, so grip wise they ok?
i got some for my spesh 6 months ago and they are just as good as v12s grip and bearing wise, im looking for some red ones for the mantra,
Don't give me that 'budget' rubbish, you're quite the yuppie these days.
The arm's getting better, doesn't hurt much now but annoyingly I'm still off the bike.
Thought the slim jims where pretty good until I tried other flats. If you're on a budget then look at the superstar nanos, far better than the slim jims IMO.
Maybe Col, but I never see my money, I just act as the person to pass it on the banks, government, supermarkets, insurance etc!!!
When you going to be back on bike, I need to start getting back on bike regular again, only restricted to short local blasts recently.
yep the grip was superb with terror pins + worn trainers.
Bearings collapsed within 3 months
Check out Ready to Ride Cycles choice of HT components pedals. They are the same ones sold by Nuke Proof and Superstar, at far cheaper prices.
