I've just remove a mountain of crap from the inside of the rubber boot, I'm tempted to not bother putting it back on.

I've read a few comments about leaving it off or using alternatives. Your experiences/ advice would be much appreciated...

Thanks in advance

Dave.

the designers saw fit to include it, so for that reasons I'd leave it on. I have one too and yes they are ugly as sin but by the looks of the mud it gets caked in I'll leave mine on. If you go without let me know how it goes on.

If you leave it off i suspect dirt will get in the mechanism and stop it working, also the bushings are plastic so they will get worn
