As a Lower Wye resident I'm putting in a response to their current Tracks & Trails consultation.
Are there any current examples of places with great engagement between forestry and MTB that I could point out to them, particularly with respect to managing unsanctioned mtb trails? Or is NRW as good as it gets these days?
While I understand the need for landowners to manage liability I think NRW current signage is a bit negative for my liking and could be seen as sanctioning the sabotage of trails thus making them more dangerous.
Consultation link if anyone else wants to respond

Ride Sheffield. Give them a message on their FB page and one of the team will get back to you.

Lots of good examples in Scotland. Aberdeenshire, Tayside or Tweed Valley trail associations. (ATA, TTA, TVTA). Aberdeenshire in particular have worked hard with private landowners in the Forest of Birse and Ballater areas.

Not exactly local but most of the trails in Squamish are on private land (First Nation or private enterprises). The remaining land is Crown (public) land but you can't build trails without government permission. With this in mind, only a tiny percentage of the trails here are actually officially sanctioned. The rest could get closed down at any time. It's a bit nuts really. SORCA manage much of the relationships between the Government, Squamish Nation and private land owners:

Cheers. Good shout on Risca, being fairly local.

FoD I should check in with as well. It seems a bit sensitive in places.
