Managed to hit a deer on one of the 'downhill' runs at Sherwood Pines first thing this morning. It ran out from the bushes just as I launched my self over a jump and I managed to scrub enough speed to only just clip it's hind quarters with my shoulder as I veered off into the bushes. I'm not sure who had the biggest fright and I hope I didn't hurt it.

Just wondered what other outher suprise interfaces with nature people have been involved in?

Kestrel flew across my path today, just a few metres in front of me. Was great to see!

I hit a bat, or the bat hit me probably. I assume it came off better than I did since I almost shat myself, and fell off into a ditch. Also got chased by a wild boar that would bet money was imaginary.

And any number of trees, obvz. I think a favourite was riding onto a balance beam at glentress and finding a fat pigeon sitting on it... Trackstanding on it shouting "**** OFF PIGEON" ๐Ÿ˜†

Today I saw 3 deer, near the road not deep into the forest.. I'd stopped for a pee, & they stood up in front of me! Lots of slow worms basking in the sun

For the 1st time in my life I saw a wild snake in the UK while riding at Hamsterley yesterday. A Viper I think, right in the middle of the single track, soaking up the sun until I tried to photograph it when it promptly zipped off into the grass.

Rounded a corner a couple of weeks ago to see a biiig moose standing in my path about 10m ahead. I was properly considering dropping into a foetal position cos hey, it works for bears, right? Luckily its flight instinct was better than mine.

Centralscrutinizer, that may of been a rattle snake or even a boa constrictor you saw but most likely an ordinary adder ๐Ÿ™‚ Healthy population of them in the forest with it being surrounded by moorland and that. I usually see a few per year up there but strangely haven't seen any this year. Put it down to the lack of good sunny days.

I did nearly hit a squirrel the other week then three deer ran in front of me on a trail for a bit until they dived into the trees. My friend ran his dog over with bike. Does that count?
