[#5724927]

I would quite like a new bike.

Something stylish to get me, a little lunch and and maybe an iPad or similar about on journeys less than 5miles. I don't want to wear plastic and definitely no garish colours. I prefer tweed and wool mixes and whilst making reasonable progress is important, an air of confidence and grace is the priority.

Any suggestions?

The Guvnor is the antithesis of proper chapness. I mean, where are the mudguards to protect one's trews, eh?

No, it has to be a Superbe. Ridden slowly. While drawing on a nice briar pipe.

I'd say a low gear ratio fixed wheel or single speed with full mudguards, quite easy upright riding position and maybe a basket / front rack to throw bit into. A mix of these two perhaps.

You're all wrong, of course.

The Pedersen is the most elegant of bicycles: upright, serene and gentlemanly. A real treat.

I was going to buy one of these:

before I stumbled across a 1939 Triumph for €75.

Thank you gentleman, good suggestions.
I don't however want to appear too much of a cad or attention seeker so presently leaning towards a brompton?

I'm glad Markie gave the Garage 271 challenger a shout - I remember seeing one on a thread here, a chaps wife bought him one for his birthday if I recall correctly!

Beautiful, but I couldn't for the life of me remember who made it or what it was called! The pics in the original thread were lovely 🙂

The orange bike in the The Bricks post above seems appropriate, its similar to the Specialised Daily Deluxe which is favourite if I can get past the Brompton thing.

ps: Chris gets it.
