I’ve been looking for a good bike storage solution for a few years now. I’ve tried a couple but nothing really works mainly because they all take up a lot of space or don't hold the bike securely enough. I came across Gearhooks a few weeks ago and ordered their 5 wall mounted rack.

I was really surprised at how good the product, packaging and instructions are not only because they are reasonably priced but because in all my research, including various articles testing bike storage, these haven't featured once.

I'm not affiliated with gearhooks in any way but they don't seem to be very well known (only mentioned once on STW back in 2020) and the product is great and from a British company too.

It would be great if STW would do an article on them but not sure who to contact about this?

I went on to buy a second rack which I installed last week. On a 2 metre wide wall I have stored 6 bikes, a spare wheel, 2 full face helmets and a rucksack. Bikes/wheels vary in size from a road bike wheel to a 2.8 wide mtb and the hooks hold them all.

Please remove if this breaks any forum rules but website is www.gearhooks.com for anybody that wants to take a look.

Cheers, CH

Looks a lot like the garage kit from Elfa, which is similarly priced but not quite as tough looking. I do wonder how big a wheel the Elfa bike hooks can take though:

The good thing about Efla is the single hooks are a lot cheaper, for example https://elfa.com/en-gb/assortment/garage-and-storage/longtoolhook-479170 is £7 for four whereas https://gearhooks.com/collections/extra-gearhooks-and-gearrails/products/general-purpose-gearhooks?variant=4222483464233 is £8 for one.

That said, the weight limits are a lot higher on the gearhooks parts, and their 30cm long double racks can clearly hold a *lot* of stuff...

So I've just bought a second three-bikes-and-stuff kits for the garage, I'm impressed. The racks come with proper heavy duty plugs and the bike-and-stuff hooks are well designed: I've got my 29er hanging on one now with a kit bag, my riding bag, and my helmet hanging next to the wheel.

Looks like a bit of unistrut and a couple of channel mounter hooks.

Not a bad price considering but I'd want it to come with anchors not Rawl plugs for £60+...

But then for half the cost I'd be willing to give this a whirl:

Cheapo eBay 3 bike hanger

@rossburton Which brand did you go for, Elfa or Gearhooks?

That’s funny as I did the same. First rack was a 5 bike with ‘normal’ hooks and second rack is a 3 bike plus gear. I’ve got 6 bikes, 2 full face helmets, a backpack and one spare wheel hung on them.

I struggled with two of the bikes due to width of tyres. Contacted Luis who advised to remove sleeve, put in vice, open as required then refit sleeve. He said this doesn’t affect warranty and he offered to do for me if I couldn’t manage. Anyway, it was simple enough and those bikes now fit perfectly.
