A while back I sold my edge 1000 with the intention of buying a 820 as the 1000 was too big for off road use.
With all the problems when it was first released with the touch screen .etc .etc I decided to hold out.
Have the issues been resolved now or is it still unreliable and not worth it?
Thanks
I've got used to mine now. Still don't think the software is great, but what it does, it does reliably.
Having said that, a recent software update stopped the audio prompts working (not a essential function, but I do use it), and still waiting for an update. I wouldn't be without it now, but it is far from perfect.
Had mine 2 months now, noticed lots of little bugs in the software. The last time I used navigation the screen kept freezing and only way to fix it was by holding the power button to reset itself, very irritating during a ride. And then it didn't record the last half of my ride despite saying it was. Sometimes the battery save feature (auto screen off) just doesn't work. Sometimes when you get a text the screen freezes and you have to swipe across to the next screen and back again to unfreeze it. It's a POS tbh.
Ive got one and it works fine. Had no issues whatsoever with the actual unit. Only things that bug me are the difficulty in uploading courses if you don't have a laptop and I've no idea how to turn off the nav once you've started it.
Certainly not as bad as some of the online bile I've read. Garmin's software is not the most intuitive but once you figure it out it's relatively pain-free
If you're doing a navigation loop, make sure you finish ends 100m before your starting point, this seems to be the most common bug
