These days I tend to ride with a HR alarm set on my 830 so it reminds me I have to keep the effort down. The only thing is that the 830 uses the bog standard single beep for this so it doesn't exactly grab my attention. Obviously you can just watch the number to keep an eye on it but I find that when things get interesting I focus more on the trail than the HR and it's easy to get carried away. I was wondering if the newer models had a different sound for that or if they were more customisable at all.
I guess the alternative is to find/build an app for my phone that does the same thing then I can have that make whatever noise I want.
Hi,
On the Edge 840 you go under the Activity Profile, go to Alerts and Prompts and scroll down and there is a Min and Max HR alert but I think it's still just the single tone. If think the 1050 has a speaker built in now so that probably has better/different tones.
My 840 only has the one beep sound. I think the 1050 might have more options?
I have an 850. The tones are much more pleasant and more varied than older units. I don't use HR alerts so don't know whether they use a distinctive tone / pattern for those, but I don't think you can customise the tones natively, just enable or disable them. It's quite possible that it could be done with Connect IQ, but that largely applies to x40 as well as x50.
It can speak to you too, but from the little play that I just had, I don't think it can say "Cor blimey, your heart's going FAST", I think it's more a case of being to tell you your lap HR at the end of each lap or something. I've never had the talky aspect switched on because, well, ew.
