FFS. No idea what they keep their files on for updating devices or what sort of connection they're on but it seems like they have sub-dialup bandwidth outbound to consumer land.

If they know upfront that the software/maps update for a device (Touring) is going to be around [b]27 hours[/b] why on earth don't they allow the download cached in the background rather than demanding you do the whole damn thing in one hit - with the device plugged in?

For anyone else with a Garmin trying to download a recent ride or grab a quick charge before heading out for a ride - DO NOT ACCEPT THE UPDATE UNTIL YOU HAVE A DAY TO SPARE!

yep, annoying isn't it :(. I just ignore their maps and use the OSM ones now although the addresses are better in theirs

Some of the timing problems are down to USB1 being used to transfer a couple of GB to the machine you are updating.
