due to stupid extension i'm losing my garage and its being replaced with a much much smaller workshop area, so my bikes and the mrs commuter will need to be housed in the garden, alongside lawnmower, tools, kids toys/bikes etc etc

any ideas/suggestions?

Depends on the value of your bikes and how much space you need. As a minimum I'd get a sturdy shed, reinforce the door and lock bolts, then chicken-wire the interior to beef up the security. Either fit a ground anchor into a concrete foundation under the shed (ideally before building the shed) or get yourself a shed shackle afterwards.

There's only so much you can do to secure a wooden shed, more heavy duty metal sheds out there too but can be expensive.
