Having knackered my current lid (a Giro Remedy) I need a new full face.
This is actually the first one I'll have bought over the counter, as all the rest, bar the original Switchblade have been crash replacements. The Remedy has never been that great a fit though, so I'm having a look round at other brands.
Now there's a few medium lids fit pretty well - 661, Troy Lee, THE (sadly TLD is the most comfortable. ££££!). But all of them (even the ones that are too tight around my face), with the chin strap done up properly, I can grab the front of the helmet and rotate it backwards on my head until my nose is poking out below the chin bar, which strikes me as less than ideal. Even if I pull the strap tight to the point of strangulation, there's plenty of movement. (the rest of the fit is fine - snug around the crown and no rotational slop about my cheeks.)
Now I can't actually imagine hitting the ground like that, but I'm also aware that very stange things happen in crashes, so how much of an issue is it?
Cheers,
Jon
Try a Specialized Deviant, good fit adjustment and great crash replacement policy too.
My SO has a Deviant. The ear holes are in the wrong place (quite uncomfortable), and yet again, I can rotate it most of the way back off my head with the strap done up. Agree on the crash replacement policy though!
How tight is too tight around your face? When I buy mx lids they are a little uncomfortable around the cheek pads at first but they mould to your face after a while. For sizing I get the smallest I can fit on my head. Can your head fit into the small of any of the brands you talk about? Prehaps try a Fox helmet as in my experience they have a very different fit to say troy lee (comapiring a V2 to an SE2) and seam to be half a size off for me so if you are in between sizes it might be perfect for you.

"too tight" as in I can't shut my mouth because my cheeks are squished between my teeth. (The THE is like this, but a medium with a pair of small cheek pads is a great fit)
Most of the mediums are a struggle to pull on, and are a good fit around the top of my head - I really don't think I'd stand a hope of getting into a small.
