Specs say 24mm, Google says grease and a whack. It went in, nipped up nicely and spun freely. But on removal the driveside bearing came away with it. Any ideas?
I realise it should be a GPX Bb but what's the difference?
In the past I had a Truvativ crank and required an extra spacer inside the bearing but this clearly doesn't.
I can slide a megaexo into a shimano BB no problem. its a nice snug fit that indeed needs a bit of persuading with a rubber mallet.
I think your issue is simply that of tolerances. Perhaps hope use 24mm- whereas maybe FSA are 24mm+
(I've a feeling that truvative 24mm doesnt work with other 24mm)
You'll need to free the bearing off the spindle I guess, as I assume that you removed it to change the chainline?
If everything lines up just fine, then can you just reassemble?
Thanks bearback, I've got the bearing off. The chap I bought the crank off is sending me the proper BB, I'll see what the difference is.
I'm not sure about the Comet arm set, but other NBD (no pinch bolt) cranks use a sprung wave washer (in addition to solid 1mm spacers) to set preload.
Not 100% sure, but I believe the corresponding NBD BB has a lip on the outer face of the dust shield whereas pinch bolt BB's are flush. I dont think theres much to this aside from how the BB's seal with wave washer vs pinch bolt preload.
This one uses the wavy washer, I'll check out the seals once I've got the BB
