Pulled my bike out of the back of the garage having not ridden it in about a year, to find the front brake (Elixr 3 i think) is rock solid. i managed to free it up a little with some pumping on the lever but then went back to being solid again. Is it buggered? or just lack of use causing this?
V brakes were so much easier to sort out 😳
Sounds the fluid has absorbed some moisture and expanded, the quick fix is to open the bleed port and push the pistons back in to let the excess fluid out, the proper fix is to bleed them..
/\ this.
bummer..........i was hoping i wouldn't have to faf about with them 😥
I should add that if you do go for the quick fix, when they get hot they will probably do the same again while you're riding, so a bleed is the best option..
Hmmmmmmm £25 for an Avid bleed kit? or new Shimano brake? ❓
Shimano brake...
Edit, brakes...
I already have an old XT on the rear so think i will go for another up front 😀
why not try these guys, ive used them no probs , does exactly what its says on the tin and a good price .
Thanks for the referral Stevie. 🙂 Here's the link to the kit in question:
