Normal service procedure. Fitted lowers. 30ml 10ml oil in legs. Bolted back up. Forks feel really stiff and sluggish to return.
Oil in wrong place? I'm a muppet?

Usual process is strip and rebuild at this stage

TALAS? Did you set the pressure with the fork upside down? From bitter personal experience that will force oil into the air side of the TALAS system, resulting in snot and tears.
Apart from that though I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't work, unless you overtightened the damper side nut and snapped the rod.
