I'm planning on doing a lower leg service on my Talas. Done them a few times on my old Pikes and never had a problem. However, I spoke to TFTuned about which weight oil and amount to use (as Fox don't currently list the 2013 Talas on their Oil Volume table) and they recommended to use their own lube rather than an oil.

I've tried to email Fox directly - and no surprise that I haven't had a response.

What do you guys tend to use?

Their own lube rather than oil? Oil is a lubricant??? Any 10w fork oil should do. They say just to soak the foam rings in that too, they used to recommend float fluid for that.

Fully synthetic 10wt from a big name (motul, castrol, silkolene will be fine.

10ml in the spring leg
30ml in the damper side if FIT dampered.

mix of 10wt and float fluid on the foam rings. ๐Ÿ˜€

the new skf/fox low friction seals come with different compund foam rings, fox suggest 10wt oil to soak them in, however UK weather is slightly worse so I reckon a mix of 10wt and float fluid is a bit better as it's less likely to get flushed out of the foam rings. It also soaks into the foams better than straight float fluid as the foams are a bit dencer than the old syle ones

For fork lowers you just need to lubricate the bushes. Pretty much any oil will do, even cooking oil. It not providing damping, its just lubing so thickness is less important. Especially if you change it often.

TF Tuned will sell you some.
