So my Canyon has 160mm 34's on it, and the sag is set at about 20%. But the compression is really, really linear, so although they very rarely bottom out, they don't ramp up at all throughout the stroke. I had similar issues with the CTD rear shock but sorted that with a volume reducer. Is there anything similar for 34's?
And for the record, I'm not going to buy Pikes.
Float fluid in the air spring side. Will reduce air volume and ramp up towards the end.
Tf Tuned do a volume reducer or you could just put about 10-20 ml of oil in the air chamber?
P
Put 15wt oil in the damper - I did this to a mates and it's made them pretty damm good now

If that is a replacement top cap, I'm confused how the air/CTD works, as it looks like a plain cap?
Read about the oil in the air chamber, is that effective as a solution, and does it cause any other issues?
Cheers for the help so far 🙂
15ml of Float Fluid in the air chamber worked fine on my 32 Floats. Reduced the linear feel greatly and had no noticeable negative effects. It just reduces the volume of the air chamber.
Yep, the extra fluid helps, what mode are you using? I ended up running them in trail most of the time with a top setting of LSC and could get full travel easily with 20-30% sag I ended up with 30% to get the small bump I wanted and 20% for the big stuff.
I ended up swapping the damper out for the avalanche one and it's a complete fork now. I sold the damper on to a mate who upgraded from the standard to mine which was the FIT TA one. He's a little lighter than me and getting on well with them.
The lad doesnt need more oil adding to the air side as he says he isnt getting full travel. if you add more oil it will make them harder still to bottom.
You don't say what damper it is, evo forks have the basic one, which you can't do much with, the 2014/2015 ctd FIT's are a bit better and can also be tuned.
The extra fluid will help with raising the air spring curve to be less linear but does sort the damping.
Currently fiddling with a set of 34 ctd trail FIT kasima 160mm forks off an ebike which is 50/60lbs ish which need to be firmed up due to the bikes weight
Have converted from Talas to float, but running with 15ml of fluid in the air chamber have found them a bit harsh.
Sorry, to clarify, they're TALAS FIT CTD's. And I'm getting full travel, just it doesn't ramp up very much, so feels very `divey´...hope that makes more sense of it.
Avalanche!

Andy, i know exactly what you mean - i had a set of 13's that were the same. your options are either:
add oil to the air side - which ramps them up abit but makes them abit harsh maybe try it in 5ml per time to a max of 15ml.
swap the oil in the cartridge to 15wt - i did this to a mates and there alot better
send the forks to a suspension place of your choice for a valving upgrade - most places you can just send the cartridge.
