Fork Travel Adjust for Lightweight

My daughter has a RS Judy fork currently set at 120 mm travel. It's OK but as she only weighs 30 kg so it is never going to be great. Would reducing the fork travel make it better or worse for a lightweight rider? I'm thinking worse as the fork would have a smaller volume of air for squishiness but I'm not an expert.

Changing travel won’t really change the suspension performance, just the geometry of the bike. Afaik.

if the fork has tokens fitted from the factory, removing them will help. Light riders (like me) benefit from a bigger air chamber. Doesn’t help with initial stiction but does help get things moving for lighter riders by reducing the ramp up as the fork compresses.

Take out any tokens to start. If she's serious then it may be worth looking at getting the shim stack custom tuned.

Shorter travel tends to be stiffer and more progressive, so even if you corrected for the reduced travel else where in the geometry, it would probably be worse for her.

Great that's what I thought. Thank you.

Also saves having to spend £20 on a travel kit.
