I've spent half the day tidying up outside after a failed break-in and general subsequent messy disaster, and then a bit more sorting out the sale of some car wheels, and I might has well have jumped in a river- bloody horrible.

Headed over to FoD. Didn’t see many people out. Trails were properly filthy and slidey, it was hilarious!

Family life means limited windows of opportunity - 24 miles of Durham mud and standing water this pm/eve, mostly in the dark. Good fun, hardly saw a soul 🙂

I can't face another mud bath, so I've rebuilt my fixie Pompino, and am going to do about 40 miles on that tomorrow.
Should be fun 🙂

Well, ended up doing 38 miles with 2500ft of climbing on the fixie.

Only skidded once (stood up to climb, and then briefly forgot I couldn't freewheel. Oops!).

The knee deep flood near Exmouth was interesting. Had to get off and push through in the end.

We went walking in the Peak District as an alternative to getting wet and muddy on the bikes.

To be honest the footpaths did get a touch damp in places.

null

But not having the bikes did mean it was easier to pop into a pub and dry out.

60 miles and 5000ft around the South Downs on my Grade today. The lanes were just as filthy as the bridleways. I wouldn't want it this wet and slippery every day but it's great fun once in a while. Some of the grinding sounds the bike was making towards the end were a bit alarming.

Had an awesome ride at Triscombe today despite it being murky, wet and muddy. Sometimes you forget how much fun it can be sliding around in slop, until you get home and have to clean it all up 🙄

^ went to Triscombe for the first time 2 weekd ago, such a great little place with some real variety of trails.

Just a quick lap round cwmcarn, wasn't event hat muddy for most of it! A few places were grotty, mainly where riders have been coming off the new Enduro trails onto the Twrch as they were dragging mud on with them. Biggest issue was the knobbers on motorbikes who had parked their vans in the car park then gone elsewhere. Came back round the car park making loads of noise and not shy on the throttle either. One or two of them did a lap of the car park flooring it then braking while there were riders everywhere and a few dogs and kids or good measure.

Saying that though it was good to see the car park full for the afternoon on a bad day.

Some of the top red route rocks at Comrie were riding a shaved seal, grip-wise.

Nice loop of the whole red though.

The thing with a new bike is it gets you out whatever the weather. Fifty miles with 4,000’ of climbing checking out some “gravel” options on the map. Some worked well, some less so, but it was all fun.

It's probably my favourite place, I don't think I could ever get bored riding there. I'm lucky that it's virtually on my doorstep 🙂

Had a fun kids ride in the Surrey Hills. 3 1/2 hrs, pretty good conditions considering, wet lower half, one crash, one puncture and fuelled with sausage rolls and cheese straws.

100km of flat Cheshire with the club (well, me and the other guy who turned up) to Jodrell Bank Cafe.

The 10% chance of rain was actually a couple of hours of solid rain. I enjoyed it.

Unremarkable damp n dreary hour and a half of calderdale late afternoon, good to get out. Some quality slop, but some bits of trail not so bad. Mx bikes were out on stoodley the other week and they have churned it up a bit. Glad of the mudhuggers front and back, and the cheap bikehut light got a run on the way home. Much better than staying in!

Birthday ride!!

I've just upgraded the amazon to hydro disks and 11 speed so today was the "shakedown". Rode over Dava Moor to Logie Steading for lunch and then back home. 74km and, despite the weather forecast, no rain.

Nothing fell off. Have to say though - I'd forgotten the sheer, smooth delivery of a brand new, complete, well set-up drivetrain.

7.5 miles round Hadleigh park today, wanted somewhere local(ish) to check the new towback rack was good, and it is. Can't see me getting much in this week - wet, then dry but bloody cold.

Yes, I've heard Santa Cruz is not that far...

Sloppy ride on Cannock Saturday. My mates ebike (I was on my Dune fatty) broke down for the 3rd week in a row after going back to the shop twice at around the ten mile mark so a bit unfortunate. Weather wasn't that inspiring mind.

Stupid ebikes... 😠

Ended up doing a 20 mile loop, finishing passing through Whinlatter.

Some proper skinny singletra6 which was mentally tiring!

Here's a small video of the first section of Whin, other vids ended up with the lanyard off the GoPro in shot 🤦‍♂️
