Not able to go to this one, but would like to know, which track are they using?
As I'm looking at trying some mini dh events, before doing my first Gravity Enduro Series event, are they a good stepping stone or more full-on than the enduro style courses?

Bottom line: can you do them on a 5" trail bike?

Cheers Mac

It'll be corkscrew this weekend weather depending. A 5" trail bike will be fine, some would say better than a full on dh bike. All of the trails at fod are fine on a trail bike. As far as the actual tracks go it'd be a similar standard to a lot of the enduro stuff.

I did the last one, which was on Ski Run, on my XC hardtail and still sent the tabletop and road gap. ๐Ÿ˜€

I did a couple of the Gravity Enduros last year and am going to do the whole lot this year. The Mini DHs are about the same or perphaps a bit more full on than the GEs.

I'll be on a 6 inche travel Lapierre Spicy this weekend, should be sweet for it. ๐Ÿ™‚

Will there be a lot of jumps/gaps and how big. Really not that confident in the air

I'm going, but no idea what I'm riding as I've just put the Commy up for sale that I intended riding. Advert here:

I can bring it with me if someone wants it.....??

Now, the old what tyre question. Has anybody been recently or is in the area and knows what the conditions are like?. I've got a choice of 2.5 Minion Front and Conti Rubber Queen 2.2 or a pair of ST Swampys. Decisions, decisions...

I 'may' be heading over tomorrow for a sneaky practice as i've never set foot at the place before....taking High Rollers (front and rear) on the bike....will pack a Minion front but videos i've seen suggest this may be overkill....if its wet and sloppy i'll be panic buying a mud tyre from somewhere before sunday!

*i have man flu and may opt to spend the day in bed instead*

LOL at 'sort of'! About an inch of the white stuff here at Staunton, Matt. Mind you, clear sky now full of stars; snow'll be gone before tomorrow's out. Forecast is pretty good for the weekend but I reckon the surface will be nice and greasy 8)

Hmmm, i've been to check all the tyres i have laying around and they range from 2.2 to 2.5 and none can really be considered mud tyres....any suggestions as to what i should take on sunday in case its a quagmire?

Limited choice as my local shop stocks Bonty Mud-X's, and most Schwalbe tyres...i think i saw some Dirty Dans in there the other day.

It won't be a quagmire. The trails mostly drain pretty well but the surface can be greasy. Grippy edges are your friend. Possibly! ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Cork Screw was dry and mud free last Sat morning.
When it's wet - what psling says above really - all well drained. Section after the fire road drains + dries very quickly - lots of roots on that section - aim for straight down the middle - pop off the step down and go high + wide for the best line into the left hander and rail the corner.
Usual HR/Minion combo should be fine.

Sweet, my current combo it is but I'll take the Swampys just in case.

hmmm... Someone on the fb page said it was muddy as hell today so the Swampys might be going on after all

The only bits that get real muddy are the start section across the fire road (10ft wide) and the short section at the bottom of the valley just before were the finish will be.
My choice will be a worn cut down spike on the back and a Minion up front (both S.Tacky)

I wouldn't worry really - 60a will be fine. Minion won't clog up due to the fast mud free sections clearing them off.

This gets more confusing by the minute ๐Ÿ˜†

I'll just leave the current tyres on and have the option of the Swampys with me

Got super tacky Minions and HighRollers but wasnt impressed with how clogged with sand the Minion got at Rogate the other week....i'll also take a mud specific tyre for the front just in case.

Thinking about it i've also got a 2.5 Nevegal Stick-E....overkill for the front?
