Commuted for a while back in the spring but money troubles meant I had to sell the bike (SS MTB) but with the car costing me more and more now I'm looking to start communting. This time I want a more road orientated bike but don't get on with drops at all. Could I fit flatbars to a Focus Mares Disc?

Any other geared CX bikes/frames with disc mounts I should look at?

You can but it'll be pretty short since it's designed fro drops which put your hands further forward. Better get a flat barred road bike of which there are plenty out there these days.

apart from the geo problems the cost involved is also surprisingly high what with shifters and the rest of it. best off to buy what you want than change it about.

how about a marin or a scott? both do flat bar, disc, commuter type bikes.
