I'm thinking of getting some Flow ex. Am I correct below?
you don't run UST with them, UST doesn't work with them?
what happens with punctures, do you also use sealant as you would with using rim kits
if you puncture, do you put in an inner tube?
UST works very well with the old Flow rims. Can't see why tubes wouldn't either.
Stans rims are what they call tubeless ready rather than UST. This means that to run tubeless a kit is required along with sealant. I have found that many tyres will work with stans rims however, tubeless ready and UST tyres are the best way to go. I have only had a a couple of punctures that haven't sealed and have had to use inner tubes, this has not been a problem.
UST works with them but fairly few people use it, because for most riders it just adds weight and takes away choice. Think of it as being like dualplies for tubeless- some folks benefit from it but if you're not in that particular group then there's drawbacks.
Tubeless ready just makes more sense, most of the time, for more people. (half my tyres are tubeless ready, the other half are just standard)
Flow ex you just use the sticky tape and a valve, and yes you will use sealant- tbh you almost certainly would even if you had full UST everything, since sooner or later you'll get a hole.
Thanks, wasn't sure if I needed sealant. Tubeless ready.. makes the mist a bit clearer.
