Looking for a maxxis shorty 2.5 width but the only ones around are near enough full price so Im tempted by a 2.4 wire bead which is a lot cheaper.
Are they a pain in the arse to fit/take off (DT SWISS E1900 wheels)?
And do they set up tubeless ok?

Cheers

James

Makes little difference. That's not to say it'll be easy just that you can't say if it'll be easier or harder based on that alone

Wire bead tyres are often made with inferior rubber so won't be nearly as grippy as top end folders . Odds are they will be harder to inflate tubeless than folding versions of the same tyre .

I have a Shorty and HR 2 wired DH on a set of E1700s, Super Tacky and 60a (I think), respectively. Tubeless, of course.

Exactly the same, some might be a pain, others less so. Definitely trickier than a proper tubeless tyre though.

No problem inflating due to the stiff carcass, but sealing is another matter...
