Well it arrived yesterday, so i fitted it, it saved a pound in weight of discarded bits, fitting was straight forward, took a couple of goes to get angle right of the bracket and i put an extra washer in to move the chainline out, i have a 456 steel frame, didnt shorten chain as suggestted but i waited till after the first ride before shortening it . There was some chain rubbing at each end of cassatte block on the guide whilst in workstand but i didnt notice it when i was on the tracks, i took it around the local woods here in new jersey lots of climbs and rooty descents, had to stand up a bit more not having the granny ring, but it was as MRP said, no chain loss on really bumpy ups and down, quieter as the chain wasn't bouncing on front mech and made the handlebars look less cluttered, i have old knees so i wont go s/s but this is a close compromise for me. i reconmend it for most uses as long as you dont have mega climbs to do. I was running lx ht11 c/set, sram 990 casette 11/32 and a sram chain, xt rapid rise rear mech
I went 1x9 about 8 months ago, and 99% of the time it is perfect, I have never had a chain come off, and I have only wanted a lower gear on a handleful of occasions.
I need to fit a beefier chain guard as I keep bending the minimal one that I have fitted.

How does it save nearly a pound in weight? Surely the chain device weighs about the same as a little ring and bashguard, so its just the weight of a front mech and shifter you save.
Cool- I've been riding in the woods in new jersey, those are some really cool trails.
The MRP 1X (or whatever it's called) is pretty minimalist so I can easily see that it weighs less than the front mech alone, in which case you're saving the weight of a bashguard (asuming you take it off), the granny ring and bolts, shifter and cable and a proportion of the mech weight. That'd add up to a pound without too much trouble, I'd have thought?
You can shorten your chain and use a short cage mech though, which saves at least 16.3 grams.
The MRP 1.X ways 50 odd grams, lose your front mech, small chain ring, large chain ring, front mech and left hand shifter and shorthen your chain even at XTR weights you are losing quite a few grams, it seems to be a hit with the pro XC racers.
I for one will be converting my Rush soon.
