Hello all

Got a new set of hope hoops yesterday (oh yeah) and the rear wheel went together fine with a maxxis ardent on it, came to do the front and put a minion dhf on I've never had to fight so hard in 15 years to get a tyre on but now the tyre is on its gone deformed and has a wobble in it. I've ramped the pressure up to 70psi to see if it would get rid of it but no joy. I wonder if it will come out over time? Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Cheers dave

Is it wobbling cos the carcass/tread is crooked, or because it's not seated properly?

Check the stitching line that is visible ~3mm beyond the rim, sounds like the bead is not sitting right on part of the tyre.

Deflate, squeeze affected part of tyre a random number of times, re-inflate and check stitching again.

I'll check the stitching tonight, cheers.

Is it possible to damage the wall of the tyre while installing it?

yep, I put a buckle in one somehow. Failed spectacularly later on!
Might have been a manufacturing fault I guess but it looked okay before I inflated it.

I inflate the tyre to 70psi so the inner tube pushes the tyre into the rim to seat it better.

Spray or wipe the bead with a little soapy water first and it will slip on and seat much easier.

Aren't the hope hoops tubeless rims?

Using tubes can quite often turn the whole thing into a farce.

I went off Maxxis tyres after having two Ignitors LUST tyres warp when set up on UST rims. There was an awful wobble in them that I just couldn't get rid of, they were sitting perfectly on the rim too. Shame as I loved the grip from the tyre, but the wobble was horrible.

Let the air out and man handled the tyre into place as it wasn't sat quite right. Now its the same all round but there is still a wobble, not as bad as before though.
