Theres a cross over group of fatbike owners and regular xc riders on here though you may want to check in on the stateside MTBR fatbike forum...
i was told on here it was a fad and they will never catch on... 😉
fatbikes look ace.
Do you get a lot of drag with the bigger tyres? (serious question)
coastkid can often be seen in drag.
Yes but it's not as bad as you might think, the tyre carcasses are light.
Where's that TR?
druidh - Membercoastkid can often be seen in drag.
Aye, but switched to mini skirts as the dresses were catching on those big tyres 😉 😀
Serious question - would there be interest in hiring fatbikes if they were available?
Been thinking of taking a few more over for touring holiday rentals in Scotland, but not sure if there is the market for it?
I use my Pugsley for just about everything, sand, snow, moorland, bogs, city, singletrack. Havn't enjoyed myself as much since I was a kid!

I know Charlie the bike monger has a demo Pugsley down south in Swanage, think there might only be one or two other demo bikes elsewhere in the UK.
Look loads of fun, it's just getting to try one out first as they are a bit specialist on the wheels, although nothing to stop you running normal 26" wheels or skinny 700c/29er tyres. Still lurking in the back of my mind that i should have got a pug over the Karate Monkey, maybe i can blag a go on one at SSUK 😀
There's quite a few of us rollin on fattyres.

running 3x 9 at the moment but may try it 1 x 9 on 70mm uma rims
it maybe slow at times, but the grin factor at other times is worth it

Me too, I built this today! Been let down by Triton cycles taking my order for a Larry tyre then not bothering to tell me they're not in stock until Dec!!! When all the other parts arrived today, Charlie the Bikemonger to the rescue, tyre arrives tomorrow.

ANoth thread under KoNtrol 😯
Had a Pug for a year or so now - Shona's just getting her Mukluk off the ground after waiting for almost a year for her tiny frame. Coloured rim strip in the Darryls looks great!
There was a guy at Ironbike riding a Sandman fatbike, what he got up was impressive. I know they are very good going downhill and he certainly used that to his advantage, riding down very rocky trails with ease.
Also I think Elias from Belgium rode a Sandman at the Black Mtn 3 day and did rather well apparently.
I've had my pug for about a year now. I run it with a Rohloff hub, trial tech rims and a couple of weight saving bits and bobs. I love it and ride it everywhere. I did the On One hundred kilometer event on it and still finished in the top 20% so it can't be that slow, it finished in front of an awful lot of carbon uber expensive bikes and would have done a lot better still without me riding it. If the event had been held 3 days earlier when all the rain came down I think everyone would have rather had my pug. It's only on road or fire road climbs I feel a bit slower than everyone else but it more than compensates in other areas. It's not a race bike and never will be but it's competant everywhere and where it's good it's very good.
I live in North Yorkshire if you ever want a test ride.
I found my fatbike dreadful in mud
