Didn't Juarez turn up at a SITS or something and out-ride everyone else by a factor of two to one or something, whilst on a fixed SS and having an eight hour kip or something stupid?

I think he was blindfolded and had been set on fire IIRC.

Oh it was mayhem, so it probably helped alleviate the boredom ...

Plop_pants - I disagree, Tinker has always looked and performed his best on Cannondale bikes. He is Mr Big C.

this rob guy I can't be arsed to read his interview why do people not like him, is he a bit like elbry. Also jason mcroy was he actually really good in the same way as peat or barel or is he just spoke of highly because he's dead.

Jason was for years the top Brit DHer, amongst the likes of Dave Hemming, Rob Warner et al in the early years of DH racing. Read his bio on the JMC website, the guy was Olympic standard not only in XC and DH but also BMX and even track. You don't get sponsored by Specialized unless you can show talent...

Missi "The Missile" Giove (DH for Yeti in mid 90's), wore her dried pet pirahna around her neck for luck..IIRC it was called Gonzo.

Jaquie Phelan (MTB Pioneer / WOMBATS founder)

and Cindy Whitehead (Klein team rider in the early 90's, rode 90 of a 100 mile race with no seat after the post broke!) Also rode DH and slalom on a fully rigid Klein (and boy were they rigid!)

nathan rennie.

i wouldn't really say the athertons are fantastical mtb characters, though it's very unusual to misjudge by that much.
