What are these routes like:
Dadys Combe - as a descent or climb to Dunkery?
Pttcombe Head - the bridleway running roughly north and meeting Smalla Combe?
Whitstone Post bridleway to West Porlock - looks like it could have potential. Looking for some ways of Dunkery that I havent ridden.
Also, cheeky I know, but should I even consider riding the footpath from West Porlock to Porlock itself? I've just got one day to do some exploring and wanted to try something different.
cheers
Dady combe would be a push up on to Stoke Pero common, I've not done it myself but would decend it if I was going to, I've climbed up from Horner & then hairpinned right up to Wilmersham track - from Dady combe to Horner is fairly tame along by the river type trail.
Pittcombehead is steeper in places but mostly fireroad/farmtrack & there's a big 'Private' sign towards the Smallacombe end (but we've always ignored it)
Whitstone post to West Porlock is over open moorland & down a steep field until you get to the treeline then it gets steep & switchbacky - the last third is good but you lose loads of height before you get to the good stuff.
You'll be fine on the footpath from Porlock to West Porlock
Wow, bike friendly sign! I've always taken the road back to Porlock from descent down through the woods. Looks an alternative.
Thanks for the advice, given me some ideas and maybe saved some disappointment!
cheers
