Hi all,

I’ve entered the Elan Valley MTB Challenge 100km in September, wondering if anyone else is signed up, or has done it previously and can give some feedback?

I’m doing it to raise money for the Kent, Surrey and Sussex air ambulance after they were amazing helping my mate after a horrible accident last year.

I’m looking forward to it a lot - anyone else doing it?

I can't give you any information sorry, but I'm looking to do it also. I'd love to know a bit more about the route as I'm undecided on whether to go the full 100km or just do the 55km and have fun. 55km will be fairly easy, 100km may be a lot depending on route and conditions on day (I'll probably go 100).

Just emailed organiser for a bit more info. I know the area fairly well, so I'll probably post back on here once I've thought about it a bit more.

@hutchism yeah, do share whatever you find out! I'm expecting it to be a hard day out - never been to that part of Wales, so looking forward to it. It'll be an emotional one for me to; it's somewhere my mate who died following his crash last year had ridden a lot, and always nagged me to go, so better late than never!

I've not done the event but have ridden & hiked in the area. Stunning part of the country and well worth extending the trip and spending time there.

@bigdaddy I've got some details on the event. Apparently around 1500m of climbing on the 55km and 2500m of climbing on the 100km route. Feed station at 55k with self service water along the way. No idea on the frequency. I'll pm you my contact details in case you want to meet up/ride along a bit of it together. I'll not be going fast!!!

I did a few of the old Kona 100 (later called Merida 100) MTB sportive events in and around that area, they were always really good. Tough but all rideable and achievable.

Good luck with it @bigdaddy - you may have to check with STW but why not pop a link to your fundraising page up on here?
