Do you need an Ekar bottom bracket or will anything else do?

thanks

Campagnolo BB’s are different to everyone else’s and you need a special puller to remove the crank

@dovebiker Ekar uses Ultra-Torque which pulls apart by hand or a swift blow with a lightweight soft mallet after the central bolt in the axle has been undone. Power-Torque is the one requiring the puller and they can set solid, I had to cut the only one I had off the bike as I destroyed my Park Puller and the meatier LBS one groaned as well and they wouldn't continue.

Campag Ultra Torque cranks / bbs are quite different to others so suspect that you'd need a Campag bb. The bearings are fitted to the crank arms and the arms with bearings attached are then fitted into the bb cups. The NDS has a wavy washer that goes into the cup before the bearing and the DS uses an external retaining clip.

Oh yeah, and what a great idea Power Torque was. Campag didn't even ever bother making a tool to take them off 😅
