Off to visit some friends in Oxford on Saturday afternoon, so thinking of taking the bikes down and having a ride round in the morning.

Can anyone recommend somewhere to head to for a couple of hours pootle with the girlfriend?

When visiting friends in Reading, we found some nice and easy riding in the Chilterns: http://www.chilternsaonb.org/site_results.asp?siteCat=11

ooo, great link ta. I've never really known where Wendover Woods/Aston hill is! Think there might be a few cheeky stops there on trips south ๐Ÿ™‚

ta!

Shotover fits the bill perfectly, but is a bit...limited...and you sort of need to know roughly where to go. I'm sure someone else on here can give specifics as to where the singletracks are. Some are controversial though. It is not a big park and very busy at weekends.

You might try just pootling along the Thames. We used to row from Oxford to Abingdon occasionally. I am unclear whether there is a riverside path the whole way - and it gets muddy this time of year - but it is a particularly beautiful place in the Autumn. Lots of novice boats out from the university this time of year, you will see many crashes.

yeah, I think local knowledge rules here, esp for cheeky trails - I mean, I live in Cambridge, but do most of my riding in Scotland - so what do I know ๐Ÿ™‚

The trails in that link are pretty well sorted - tame, accurately graded and good for a bimble - which sounds like it would do pretty well for you and the gf?
