I’m off to Dyfi in a few weekends time - looking at piecing something together ourselves in the Friday, Dyfi bike park Saturday and over to the Shropshire Hills on the Sunday.
Having previously let my mate decide what to ride in the Dyfi area and going round the fireroad snore fest that is Mach 3 I’m quite keen not to repeat that experience.
Looking on line it looks like ClimachX is ok - but that you can link it in with loads of off piste stuff in the area. I also found a route instruction someone came up with called ‘Climach Harder’ that there’s a gpx for - and I could grab a land ranger 124 map if needed.
Is it easy to find decent off piste in that area - thinking a mixture of flow / tech stuff like Risca ideally?
I don’t know how fit I’m going to be after 3-4 weeks off the bike with norovirus and then a back injury - but hopefully the zone 2 turbo I’ve been doing will mean I plug round ok.

Flowy, tech, Rooty, jumpy, tight and even gnarly.
Uplift day.
There are a few obvious lines which spur off the official Climachx route, particularly on the last descent.
However, the 'best' off-piste stuff is in the other end of the forest - NE corner. You will need to fireroad it over (or drive round the outside - which takes longer). Having said that, i've not ridden much of it except some slate chutes, which were pretty cool. Trailforks has the best map, so take that on your phone and budget a few hours.
Ah, I’ve got Trailforks integrated into my garmin edge 530 - albeit it’s a little clunky to use with the buttons. Had forgotten that. Maybe we ride climach x with some spurs off it then if we have time zip over to the other side of Dyfi. Although maybe that’s ambitious as we have to drive there from Bristol first thing Friday morning</p>
I have pm'd you a Strava link to a loop we did a few weeks ago. Be warned, some of the stuff that drops off the NW corner from the top of the final ClimachX descent are brutally steep in places. Bring your big-boy pants.
