Used my DX bike light for about an hour and a half on high last nigh straight out of the box. I have just tried to charge the battery I connected the charger to the battery to the charger and the green led comes on straight away, even before is plugged into the mains.
Does the battery have to be fully discharged before the charger works?
No voltage on the output of the charger with the battery not connected.
I've read a thread on dx site where someone said their charger was duff and had to use a camera charger!
Any ideas?
the battery light should go red when charging the batteries, & you should be able to charge the battery from any state other than full, something sounds duff.
If I've read you right, you get the green light on the charger before you stick it in the mains. I don't think that's a fault.
What happens when you apply the mains power? Charger LED should change colour at this point and should revert to green again when charging complete.
I've got a Li-ion charger which does this - attach the battery to the charger and get a green light on charger unit. Plug in charger to mains and light changes to orange to indicate charging.
What happens when you plug the charger into the mains ? Is the light still green ?
Edit: Repeating Ecky's questions, sorry.
Got it working, one wire from mains was not soldered onto pcb in the charger body, so no power as getting to the board, other than the power from the battery to power the led.
Simple fix, thanks for the info.
