Received a new DX bike light just after christmas but was only getting 1 hr run time despite charging for 5-6 hrs until the charger showed green. The switch on the lamp always shows red when the battery is plugged in.
I got it from Lumilite in the UK who promptly sent me a replacement battery (and let me keep the old one as a spare) but the new one does the same.
I tried charging it using a friends charger, which went for another 2 hours on my supposedly fully charged battery before showing green on the charger.
However, if I plug this into my light it still shows red on the switch. Also, friends fully charged battery shows red on my switch but green on his!
Any ideas?
I'd junk it and get a Nukeproof. Your LBS will probably have one ex-demo or cancelled order at a good price.
Sounds like the light itself is buggered
Try a different lead from the light to the battery.
nosher, what effect would a different lead have?
I've got 2 of those lights - both stay red at the lamp and at the charger no matter what. The chargers also perform differently and one gives a full 3hrs burn on max whereas the other drops out after about 2hrs. I've tried both chrgers on both batteries and on each light head, and it's consistently one charger that does that. So my guess is your chargers a bit up the spout - try getting that swapped and see if it helps.

no, because his friend's battery also shows as red when connected to his light
just send the thing back somethings clearly not right with it, best to send it back before it leaves you in the middle of nowhere with no light
Wiring prob in the light unit. I had a similar thing tonight in the cold. It kept flicking between red and green. Still got full burn time though.
Send the whole lot back and ask for a complete replacement before Lumilite go bust.
I've got a Lumilite version of the DX P7 and as far as I'm aware the switch lights up but it is not a power meter, it just glows red when there is power connected to the lamp.
buy cheap buy etc etc ๐
just buy a trout light instead.end of.
you bought in the uk to get a uk warranty and service, right? ( otherwise you'd have saved yourself about 30 quid going to dx direct ). just fire it back at them complete. should have a replacement within a week.
