[#3808764]

I have been down at Drumlanrig over the past two weekends and the conditions are great at present - dry dusty trails. I recorded the route through Endomondo to get an idea on the climbing/ distance and also comparison on the accuracy of the tracking over the two days.

I managed to shave 10 mins off last weeks loop and completed the full red/ black route yesterday in 1hr 27mins. How does this compare to others? What's your best time round the full loop?

Surely someone out there recalls how long it took them to complete a loop...

About 1 hour 20 minutes to do the full red route, without the black extensions.

Not beasting it but not hanging about either.

So 1hr 30 minutes for the red / black is pretty good

I normally take between 2.5 and 3 hours, depending on photo and food stops. But I guess you are looking for people who are interested in timing their laps yeah?

My legs always seem to go half way, just after the red bail out, and then they pick up again on that lovely speedy bit of red. After saying that I have to walk up the final black climb - it's a killer!

I generally do a loop and a half of the red when I go.

Do the full red then ride the red bailout loop (I love the chute at the finish that drops you down to the car park)

What nice about Drumlanrig is you can ride it as a balls out XC slog or you can just amble through the trees having a laugh.

What i would like to know is that bit of skinny northshore still at the end of the last section, top of the switch back climb, many moons ago it looked green and slippery, i think it crosses a ravine, it was when i got back into biking and at the time thought wow it would be good to ride, it probably isn't even that bad, but then it looked like tight rope walking over the grand canyon! so who's done it.

That feature is gone now Fergal. Need some nerve and balance to do that one after the climb... It's a 4-5ft fall into the ditch below if you didn't make it.

All the time mate, there is a few routes down that neck of the woods that I do... out the castle side and return on the opposite side of the river and take in some of redless quarry.

done it a few times but cant remember the times. For 11 miles, i would say an hour, slightly less, possibly mid 50 minutes. IIRC, the first 3 miles is pretty much climbing with a few downs, then it flattens out with some nice swoopy stuff.
