Top tip folks. When fitting a new bar on your bike make sure the brake levers and shifter go on in the right order before you fit your new ESI grips. Or at least try to tighten up the levers/shifter before the grips dry on the bars. Grrr.
Luckily at least I know the ziptie trick so the grips go on easily enough now.
