Do you seriously think anyone would give it out to a stranger on the internet if they did?

How did you send payment to him? Can you not follow that line to get to him?

I think Mr Burt may be getting a letter from a solicitor soon. Unfortunatley he deserves it in this case.

I can't believe all the forum users that Jo has stolen money from are being so patient with him. Why doesn't everyone either report him to the police or take hime to the small claims court in an attempt to get their payments back?

No such place as Upper Ramsbottom, but I appreciate the joke.

It must be beyond the pale now. This is just appalling behaviour. If Mr Burt was some mush from Birmingham there would be a lynching by now. The fact that he's 'artistic' doesn't escape the fact that he's a chiseler of the lowest order.

Time to go to the small claims court. Everyone who was daft enough to line his pockets should take the official route. He can't even be chuffed to reply to emails. It's pisstaking of the most arrogant kind.

Calm down everyone. The keyrings will be delivered in due course and then it'll be back to fawning as usual.

Don't think the timescale is really "due course".
And I suspect there may be a few fewer fawns so to speak.

As far as I can make out from that thread it's the jewellry artist that has your money, not Jo? Jo needs to send you the whatever it is that's been made but that's slightly different from someone running off with your money.

And Jo hasn't taken a cut of it? 🙄

Anyway, its academic, the contract is between the folk off here and Jo, not the jeweller.

Right, and next time I buy a Thompson seatpost from CRC and they don't send it I will get straight in touch with Thompson...

My point is that there's a big difference between someone stealing your money (which is what is being inferred) & someone taking a couple of weeks to send something.

Indeed. And when the Nigerian Prince doesn't send you the millions he's promised you, it's an error at the bank?

If he's such a stand up chap, an email would cost nothing and restore his reputation. Except to apologists like you who would defend the indefensible. You must be such a fan, it's the only explanation.

And you don't know me from Adam. I'm not defending him, I'm just providing some perspective.

Maybe he's drawing personalised mint sauces for everyone and it's taking a bit longer than expected?
Raising a lynching posse doesn't really seem the best way to resolve things.

I think Jo needs to communicate with his customers if there has been a delay/problem with delivering the product. I expect there is a rational explanation - he's been ill, the jeweller is an problem, etc.

Nah, you want to sell it on STW classifieds. My psychic senses are telling me there would be a lot of demand.

Just my twopenceworth here..

Consider the possibilities.. this is an MTB stalwart we're talking about here.. very much a public figure (albeit shadowy).. and a hero to many..

How is it going to be in his best interest to rip off a fairly vocal group of forum dwellers for a few hundred quid?

Maybe I will set up a forum account and profess to be ooooh... I dunno.. rolf harris... and offer to send out signed charicatures if you all send me £50 each up front.. or if I'm feeling ambitious maybe I could masquerade as Damien Hurst or Banksy.. it wouldn't be too hard..

This still doesn't answer why we haven't heard from Jo Burt on here..

Maybe he is blissfully unaware of this whole scam and the outrage it has caused.. maybe he has better things to do with his time than follow the happenings of a disturbingly supercilious internet forum.. I know some of you may find it hard to believe that such a person exists.. but I have heard rumours..
Maybe he's on holiday in BC in a log cabin with Doddy til xmas.. incommunicado and riding naked together through bear country under the influence of exotic fungus and simply forgot..?

Say instead then that the highly unlikely situation of Jo Burt himself having stitched you all up is true..
This man with years of dedication to mountain biking and art suddenly thinks.. ahhh... stuff it.. I'll throw away my job and my fanbase.. my respect and standing within the community and I'll rip these guys off for 1500 quid and disappear to mexico to start a new life with a chiquita named Agraciana..

Maybe he's a flipping psycho and lurks on the forum under a stable of aliases.. maybe he's TJ.. and cynic-al.. and Woppit.. Maybe he paints his monthly strip from a basement cellar at broadmoor and only managed to log on to perpetrate this scam on a mobile phone smuggled in a sympathetic wardens bottom.. maybe he has had the jewellery implanted under the skin of his pet pug peter and has embarked on a tour of the balkan states with the barnham brothers circus..

Will the real Jo Burt please stand up and make himself/herself known so that I can sleep at nights again..

I have an address of his from 2003*. However, I'm not going to give it out on a public forum, so if you NEED it, then email me.

Email in profile.

*of course, useless if he's moved in the last 7 years...

Anyone else remember the MTBR 'community' lynching of Matt Chester? From the outside this seems equally distasteful.

Funnily enough, I told two of the Chester lynch mob that I'd buy their place in his build queue from them for what they'd put down as a deposit plus interest at bank rate. Since they were so adamant on the forum that they'd been shafted, I figured that the chance to get their money back might have some appeal. They both disagreed.

errrr hang on. there is such a place as Upper Ramsbottom. It's the top end of Ramsbottom, 5 minutes up the road from me in Tottington.
But i don't think Jo Burt lives there..

yeah... I saw that.. I'm not convinced... smoke and mirrors smoke and mirrors..

I will continue to take heroin in my bid to achieve a restful night..

I'll bet if you traced the IP that Jo's email was sent from it will lead back to a beachside cafe in Ipanema...

It's not in anyone's interest. He's just being a total fanny is all.
