Stripped down my drivetrain today (1x11) and gave it a really good deep clean in IPA. Applied Fenwicks Stealth to the chain as directed in the instructions as well as a small spot on the rear mech bearings. I normally just spray GT85 on the cassette/front ring. Is this enough lube for these components or should they be getting a coating of the chain oil?

Dont be daft. If the oil stayed on there it would also mean all the dirt sticks to it. Leave it clean and dry.

Its not like they are gears in a high torque, high rev gearbox - they will last fine without any lube.

I give the cassette and chain a clean with some of the chain degreaser fluid plus brushes/chain tool, a rinse with some waste water from one of my fish tanks and then a dry with towel.

Only the inside of the chain that wraps around the cassette and chainring gets fresh lube applied.

What Trimix said, you want lube on the inside of the chain's rollers, not anywhere else.

A little oil on the teeth where the chain contacts helps stop it going rusty - this gets there by the chain running over it, so I certainly wouldn't be spraying anything directly on.

Surely you want a static contact between chain roller and sprocket/chainring. The lube is there to allow the chain to articulate as it goes round. So no lube anywhere other than the chain roller.

As per you OP. Chain lube on the ... err ... chain. GT85 on cassette and chain rings. Been doing that for years no issues afaik

Bit of gt85, wd 40 or similar. Gives you an extra few km before the cassette gets filled with mud. So I only do it when it's likely to be an issue.

Chain lube is a bit excessive.

as above, just lubricate the chain.
