Like this one. The pile of tubeless tyres with slices in them from the Chilterns flint is building up on my garage floor. Can anyone confirm that these patches actually work & allow you to inflate & ride the tyre tubeless again? I'd rather chuck the tyres away than go back to tubes! Cheers.

IME no, they always either don't stick properly and peel off as soon as you start inflating the tyre, or they fail after not very long.

I've sewn up tyres with polyester thread before with varying degrese of scucess. Sew it up neatly, piercing the tyre as close to the cut as possible so the 2 edges are pulled together but not bunched up/overlapping, Smother the cut with rubber solution from a normal repair kit, wait for it to dry, sandpaper off any excess rubber solution, then put a tubeless patch over it (the tubeless glue is superglue).

But TBH I normaly just stick a tube in it for a couple of months untill the tyres worn out.

hmm as I feared, cheers. Considering my sewing "skills", I don't hold out much hope for plan B either!

thisisnotaspoon is spot on with the advice there. I managed to put a 0.75" slash in the side of a brand new Nevegal whilst attempting to trim back the excess bits of 20" ghetto tube. I carefully sewed the split together before gluing on the largest (not tubeless specific) tube patch on the tyre I could find. I covered this with a square of gaffer tape and it's held for two years plus, despite the shonky looking slight bulge to the sidewall.

I've been able to run it tubeless again too.

I didn't find that type of patch worked very well.

But this works brilliantly:

(though won't repair holes if they're too big I guess)

clubber is that kit for a permanent fix or just to get you home? I don't mind using a tube to get home, it's the permanent fix I'm looking for. Cheers.

I sew them, then superglue the gap so the threads can't unravel and put a normal puncture patch on the inside. Never quite understood why tubeless patches cost so much.

i have used those patches with success. one patch has held for about a years worth of riding. I think it depends how big the hole is. Also important to get all the sealant off the inside of the tyre to let it stick properly.

I've used the repair kits as per clubber's link. They're excellent for repairing holes in the tyre that are too large for the sealant to block effectively. You simply cut off a small strip from the foam pad and thread it through the supplied needle which is in turn threaded through the hole in the tyre and you trim off the excess.

It doesn't mend a 0.5" long gash in a sidewall, but they're a permanent fix for holes in the tread.

[edit] A roll of reinforced gaffer tape is a tubeless user's best friend.

Not a recomendation , I've not bought or used this so I don't know, but this one's only £2 here if you're interested. May be worth a try.

Yes, they work as a permanent repair (in my tyres at least) but won't fix really long (1/2"+?) cuts.
