Selling a couple of hardly see Purgatory here if interested £12 each. Or 2 for £20.

Grid and control varieties, 27.5 BTW.

They're a nice size for a do-it-all tyre. Currently running 2.3 Purg on the back, 2.3 Butcher on the front here. I personally wouldn't want anything bigger for general riding.

They are skinny compared to most tyres of the same quoted width, certainly skinnier than a Butcher or a Slaughter. I also found the grid casing lacking in meat as they are a bit lighter than the other grid casing tyres and I got lots of pinch punctures...
Want to buy one lightly used 27.5 x 2.3 Purgatory grid?

Fairly. Had no problems with them on my Fortitude.

Not the best guides as I didn't include a ruler in the pic:
2.3" Purgatory on a 25mm superstar DS25 rim on the left
3" Dirt Wizard on a 50mm DB-X50 on the right

thanks everyone
i actually want as big as i can get, though not convinced a dirt wizard would fit in the frame. got 2.4 fat alberts at the mo but the new ones don't look that convincing.
i've about 10 or 12 mm either side so room for a little more but those dirt wizards look monstrous! thanks bandito. fancy crackin g out the tape measure/verniers?
ever put one on a narrower rim?

I've just put 2 on my bike as I got fed up with the leaky sidewalls on Conti Trail King 2.2.

The 2.3 Purgatory isn't quite as wide as the trail king but only a bit in it.

Much much easier to seal tubeless and although not as grippy they are a good tyre for the money.

Tomaso, how much are you after for the grid?

My Purg grid 2.3 is wider than my Butcher grid. Only by a little, but it certainly isnt narrower.

Couple more for comparison. Crests, 25psi tubeless

Purg 2.3 56mm (under)
Smorg 2.25 58mm (spot on)
Chunky 2.4 62mm (spot on)

So a purg 2.3 comes up smaller than trail king 2.2?
Are conti 2.4s (trial/mountian kings) massive then?
Are they any good these days? Old mountain kings (I think) got a lot o bad press

What is nice and big without necessarily having too much of a DH tread and weight?

And lastly, has anyone tried the new fat Albert's?

Don't get the Purgs then, they are a bit skinny IMO.

Schwalbe 2.35s are pretty meaty. On One Chunky Monkey also.

I'll put a few tyres in a comparison tonight for you. I have Chunky Monkey, Smorgs, Butcher grid, Nevegal Pro, MM which I will photo against the Purg grid. All on rims (granted some are wider rims)

IMO the purg is amongst the biggest of those.

those dirt wizards look monstrous!

I can't measure the Spesh tyres now as they're off, but for scale, the Dirt Wizard on a 50mm rim measures 68.5mm at the carcass, 74.something at the widest part.

aye, that's a bit too much for my frame, but only a bit.
they look like a whole lot of tyre too, or maybe the prugatory next to it is just a bit puny?

Only the TKs, yes they are big, big in volume. Excellent tyres in Black Chilli compound and Protection (or Apex) sidewalls.
