Difficult to get the compound I'm after in UST, thinking about trying a standard single ply HR.

Would be on UST or tubeless specific rims.

Good or bad idea?

Ran for 6 months without a single problem. 2.1 single plys on 717s. Going back to them after numerous other tyres. Maxxis UST is overkill unless you're a downhiller or brutal rider.

Are you talking about using a rim strip or just trying to inflate it straight on?

My 2.35 single ply kevlar ones have seated and sealed well on crossmax ST rims.
However, I ripped a hole in the front sidewall (this was in Verbier mind), so not bomb proof. I suspect the UST ones will be more tear resistant - how important this is will depend on the type of trails you ride.

Was going to try it bareback on an 819.
