Hello
My first question on here is probably a bit of a bone one however...
So I've been riding a few years now but I've only ever bought and built bikes with Shimano drivetrain. I've recently bought a 2014 Salsa Spearfish which comes with an X9 Type 2 rear mech. Now I've never bent a mech hangar on any of my other bikes but after owning the Spearfish just a few weeks I have bent one. (Mind you riding your bike on black ice was possibly not my finest decision but it's done now.) At £20 a pop I don't fancy making this a regular occurrence
Is it was this particular mech that protrudes? Or do all Sram mechs do this or could I of possibly never noticed it on any of my other bikes? (I have been looking through photos of my other bikes but can't see any) Opinions?

I found that when I moved from a bike with Shimano Shadow to X0 a few years ago. Didn't last too long though, learned to take a slightly wider line quite quickly.
I think I'll be moving back to Shimano
been running SRAM for years, never really noticed it and not had any cause to
