[#1340139]

I've just brought one of these:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DMR-Trailstar-Frame-254-95-bmx-bb-grey_W0QQitemZ220414076997QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_sportsleisure_cycling_bikeparts_SR?hash=item3351b3e845#ht_894wt_939

And am a bit lost in the world of BMX bottom brackets Euro/US/MID?Spanish jez... any ideas to what I need?

Oh and any pointers on a cranset/bb combo?

Yeh, you either need an American (US) BB and some 3 piece cranks, or get some DMR wondercups so you can fit a standard mtb bb and cranks

awesome frame! you'll love it.

buy some wonder cups which will convert the oversized BB to a regular mtb shell and then fit whatever crankset you wish.

If your going for the American BB, go with profile cranks 2nd hand. Or just fit some wonder cups and run some sort of shimano cranks

I have no idea about the bb's either, but profile or primo hollowbites are the ones i would go for if i could afford it...

It will be classed as US bb, I have Primo Powerbite cranks on my BMX and Profile on my MTB, I would recommend either, both have lasted me 8+ years with just the odd bearing replacement!

I had a trailstar years ago, about 2002, it really is the only bike i really really wish i had never sold, its irreplacable to me as i learnt how to hop, how to jump, how to do drops all on that bike, i still miss it and i've vowed ot one day build one up again, but it will still not be the same...

Thanks guys, it'll only be used as a play bike so I'll do some searching to what works out the cheapest 8)

If you want really cheap, the blank stuff on crc is meant to be good, but Rad bmx has them as well, and he may well price match...

If your a bit of a gnarler then some steel 3 piece cranks would be best, I ran some cheap ones on my dmr with no probs and have some profiles on my bmx with n probs.

If your just messing about and not doing any street and your not to harsh on your kits, got with the Wonder cups and some 2n hand shimano ht2 cranks, like Hones. I have these on my mtb and there great.
