Does anyone know if Hope get their rotors as blanks and then machine them into the the relevant styles? I need a 185mm stainless steel 'disc' and have no idea where to buy one in a non bikey kind of way!!
they are laser cut from sheet steel unless im greatly mistaken.
neither laser cutting and sheet steel are bike specific, it just the pattern you ask it to print that matters.
i would have thought hope have thier own laser.
they used to put your own text or designs onto disks for you if you wanted....
design/drawing in one end, and click "print" effectivly, i would imagine.
if you wanted something specific i gues you could ask hope if they would do a one off for a fee, if not, im sure some laser cutting company would sort something out for a price....?
Hhhmmm. If only there was a way of communicating with Hope directly and asking them?
Give them a ring and ask them. They machine them in house but I don't know what they start off with.
infact im certain they do, because there was an article where they were talking about the new delivery of the giant nitrogen tanks to store the inert gas for the laser.
also, a google search gives you loads of laser cutting companies....
I've just found one on ebay who does steel blanks, but not in the correct size, and Alu ones in the correct size. they're only a couple of quid plus postage. I've asked them if they can do a Steel on the size I want.
btw it's to cover a hole in the shower where a mira dial used to be and was filled with expanding foam. It'll do then until we get the bathroom decorated in 2015!
