I'm gonna be fitting a pair of disc brakes for the first time this weekend. Is there a easy way of cutting to the correct length or do you just do it by eye?

By eye, make sure you've left enough for the bars to turn fully without kinking or pulling the hose, but not so slack that it can hook itself over shifters etc. when on full lock.Fit the caliper end first and then do the trimming at the lever.
