Browsing through the government's epetition site, like yer do, I was surprised at the small number of cycling related ones and how few votes they had.

I don't know how effectiuve these things really are, but I expected to find at least one serious one with one of the big cycling organisations behind it amongst the frivolity.
I did turn up this gem of capital letters and poor grammar though.
CYCLING ON FOOTPATHSMUSTBE MADE ILLEGAL ON SAFETY ISSUES.Responsible department: Home Office
WE THE UNDERSIGNED WANT THE LAW CHANGED TO STOP CYCLING ON THE FOOTPATHS AND TO STOP SOME FROM GOING THROUGH RED LIGHTS, THIS IS DANGEROUS PRACTICE AND ALLOWED TO HAPPEN WITH NO CONTROL, DISABLED SCOOTERS CAN ONLY DO 4 MPH ON THE FOOTPATHS YET CYCLES CAN REACH SPEEDS OF UP TO 30 MPH, THIS IS DANGEROUS WHICH THE POLICE MUST SEE EACH DAY AND TURN A BLIND EYE, THIS IS THE SAME AS JUMPING
REDLIGHTS, WAS AN OFFENCE YEARS AGO AND ENFORCED BUT NOT ANYMORE, WHY.EITHER NEW LAWS NEED BRINGING IN OR IF THEY STILL EXIST ENFORCED AS IT IS VERY BIAS TO THE DISABLED SCOOTER, SHOULD BE A LEVEL PLAYING FIELD FOR ALL AND NOT JUST SOME SECTIONS, PLEASE SIGN IF YOU AGREED.
THANKS
I would question the claim that "...CYCLES CAN REACH SPEEDS OF UP TO 30 MPH..." though.
I frequently exceed that. ๐
Speeds of up to 30mph, s****.
Shame you can't downvote those petitions by giving them a -1.
The list of rejected epetitions reads like the Daily Mail letters page.

I take it as a good sign that cyclists are more intelligent than the average population, and realise that e-petitions are a complete waste of time.
