Any suggestions? I've bought a park guide and one of those carbosaws which of course won't fit into the park guide. Is it just a case of getting a new good quality blade and taking it steady and err.... outside 'cos of the dust?
I've cut a few and just used whatever hacksaw blade I've had lying around. Has been fine.

hacksaw, take it easy at the end or you get fraying. Wear a decent dust mask just in case. try very hard not to get splinters!
Dust mask and super super sharp saw with fine teeth not jagged etc and let the blade do the work not by forcing and don't let it get hot.
Be careful of the dust.
Use a blade with the highest TPI you can get, the higher the number the more teeth per inch thus giving a finner cut.
If you're worried about making a straight cut just fasten an old stem on the steerer at the cut point & let the blade follow the edge of it
if you relax & don't force it, it'll stay straight

old stem,junior hacksaw,cut halfway,flip it over,cut other half.eat cake,drink tea/beer.
