Will be in Aviemore tomorrow and can bring the bike so wondered fi any locals or indeed anyone who has visited recently can give a heads up on trail conditions?
Considering exploring the Burnside stuff or maybe just taking the easy option nd hitting Laggan's trail centre!
Any local knowledge appreciated!

i have nothing to add other than i LOVE laggan, just a shame it's so far away from leeds 🙁
Have friends staying near aviemore, it's pretty white at their level but not town. I'd guess Laggan will also be white.
We're in Aviemore now. It's a bit damper and milder than it was yesterday but wherever you go the biggest hazard will be previously ridden and compacted snow that'll have turned to ice.
Thanks guys, I'd be thinking the more natural trails near Aviemore itself might be a better bet than the trail centre as they are less likely to be icy?
I'm going regardless so it'll be a case of working out the best or least worst option.....
Tried to get up the Burma road today but it was really hard work. Even the rideable sections weren't so we abandoned the bikes and walked up the Corbett near the top of the pass which was interesting in 5.10s
tomorrow we are going to try the Applecross coffin road on the principle that a. it is lower b. it's nearer the coast and c. if it's crap we can retire to the Applecross Inn
Just in case this thread can be of use to anyone else thought I’d update. I went out this morning and did some of what I think are known locally as ‘High’ Burnside trails including Bigger Bicuits, Coco Pops, Top Trail, Side Pipe, THR, Christ Almighty, Tunnel of Wasps etc.
In general it’s ok. There is ice on the fire roads where the snow has been compacted but there was no ascent that too icy to ride. There is also a decent dusting of snow on exposed areas - might be 6 inches at worst. The trails under tree cover were good - the odd snowy and icy patch made it tricky but there’s also lots of firm and dry trails. In short going up is tricky but no real issues on the descents (at least not because of the weather/conditions!)
