nearly broke my neck after speeding through a slow section and getting ejected as my suspension fully compressed

Looks like rebound damping wasn't ideal. I once followed a guy on a downhill practice day at precisely the time the rebound on his rear shock stopped doing any damping. It was like that only with more pogo.
