Current bike is a 2012 Whyte Stirling which is much abused and in need of a bit more than TLC, hence looking at something new.
Two favourites just now are the Whyte Suffolk and the Cotic Escapade. I also have a Whyte T-130S so I'm a bit of a fanboi but the Escapade looks tempting too, especially as the Suffolk looks to be nothing more than a drop bar version of the Stirling.
Other points to consider:
- Cyclescheme limit is £2k
- Won't be using mudguards or panniers
- Must have disc brakes (hydraulic if poss)
- Would prefer 105/Rival or better
- Not Pinnacle or Decathlon - I'm a brand snob and having looked at the their bikes, nothing appeals.
- I'm not a fan of Giant, Trek or Specialized because they seem to everywhere.
Based on the above, is there any brand/bike that I should be considering? What would you recommend?
Have a look at Pinnacle
I love my Escapade but I've got big tyres on it and ride it mainly on broken farm tracks and gravel. It's not light though, it's more like a very light mountain bike in the way I use it and I'm happy with that. It accelerates well and is super comfy but for a commuter/road bike I'd be looking for an Alu frame I think...
Mine is full 105 but cable disks and Hope/Mavic 29er wheels...
